I've slacked off on my workouts since the Olympics have started and I find it unbelievable how much sitting around just creeps up on you. My run on Monday night was tough in the dark on the track and I have to confess that I haven't done anything else this week (no walking, no zumba, no strength training). I have been researching and signing up for different virtual races and looking at half marathons. My eyes keep going to the half marathons so I thought that I might just as well get a training program and start my training. Looked on about.com last night and I found one in which they email the program on a week by week basis in which they tell you the distance to go and what you should do.
Day One is to run 2 miles. Thought I would jump right in as why wait for next week. I do have a virtual run that I'm doing tomorrow that I will write about in a separate post. I got my gear on and laced up and away I went. I needed 2 walk breaks as my cardio level hasn't been up to snuff and I need to get it back up to where it was. Here's my photo after my 2 mile run when I got back. Sweaty and looking tired but so glad that I pushed myself to get out there. Check out the white feet. :) 2 miles is 3.20 km in which I did it in 20:41 with a 6'27"/km pace.
